Ever notice how Texas, the mythical land of cattle and cowboys, cavaliers and cotton, has become a hotbed of terror?
Every year we hear new reports of Islamic terror in Texas. Here are just a few;
(2023) A Houston jihadi who rendered material support to terror was sentenced to 13 years in prison
(2022) Federal law enforcement thwarted a planned assassination of former President George W. Bush by Muslim terrorists
(2022) An anti-Semitic Islamic terror attack was conducted against one of Colleyville’s prominent synagogues in January 2022. The attack resulted in several Jews being taken hostage for 11 hours before local police neutralized the gunmen.
(2019) Dallas-based prolific ISIS recruiter was sentenced to 30 years in prison
(2018) Texas man sentenced to 45 years in prison for aiding in bombing of U.S. base in Afghanistan
(2016) Two Texas Muslims join ISIS
(2015) Nadir Soofi, a Pakistani-American Muslim, along with two others, attempts an assassination of anti-jihad activist Pamela Geller in Garland, Texas
(2014) Two jihadis arrested in Houston while attempting to fly to the Middle East in support of ISIS
(2011) Palestinian-descended Muslim Army soldier Naser Abdo arrested for planning a second Islamic terror shooting against Americans at Fort Hood
(2009) 13 soldiers killed in jihad attack by Nadal Hasan at Fort Hood
(2009) Thwarted Islamic terror bombing of Fountain Place in Dallas
(2001) Close partners of Osama Bin Laden discovered and imprisoned in Arlington
Now, there has been yet another report of an alleged Islamic terrorist being arrested on gun charges by the FBI in Texas. Sohaib Abuayyash, a 20-year-old Palestinian citizen, entered the States on “a tourist visa and liv[ed] illegally in the U.S. for several months,” before he applied for asylum status, which was still under consideration when he was taken into police custody in Houston, according to a report from KHOU 11 News Houston.
“Abuayyash has been in direct contact with others who share a radical mindset, has been conducting physical training, and has trained with weapons possibly to commit an attack,” court documents obtained by ABC 13 Houston alleged.
Abuayyash allegedly had previously indicated his support for killing Jews and disseminated information he had collected on building bombs on social media, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Wray’s testimony was made during a joint appearance with Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, who oversees the immigration service. The juxtaposition of Wray and Mayorkas shows the problem with immigration from backward alien cultures and crime. If we allow people inclined to terror to enter the United States, then it becomes a ginormous gamble that we can stop whatever they plan to do once they are here. Often, we are unsuccessful.
It can not go without noting that Islamic terror did not exist in the U.S. for the first 200 years of our country when the U.S. was almost entirely Christian. This is a problem that can only be produced through irresponsible immigration programs.
The Abuayyash story demonstrates almost every problem with American immigration. First, why would someone who originated from a hotbed of terror be allowed entrance to the country? Second, why was Abuayyash allowed to apply for asylum after illegally remaining in the U.S.? Abuayyash’s demonstrated contempt for American laws should preclude his claim of asylum and prompted his deportation upon arrival at the immigration offices. Third, after the FBI had obtained video evidence of Abuayyash illegally obtaining firearms, why was he not expelled immediately?
If this story sounds like Groundhog Day to you, you are correct. Our immigration system is little more than a concierge service for those who seek to kill Americans.
Omar Mateen (the Pulse Nightclub shooter), the Fort Hood shooter, all of the 9/11 hijackers, the San Bernardino shooters, the Oklahoma beheader, and the Boston Bombers were all foreign-born nationals or born to foreign nationals whom the U.S. had ample evidence for their inclinations toward terror. The United States can grant legal status to anyone we want, Irish doctors, German engineers, Swedish supermodels, yet we consistently issue visas and citizenship not to people who enrich our country but to people who plan to kill native-born Americans.
The “Alabamian” woman who joined ISIS was born to a Yemeni Diplomat who was inexplicably allowed to stay in the U.S. after his diplomatic term concluded.
Fortunately, the Trump Administration had the good sense to cancel her citizenship when she tried to re-enter the United States after the Trump administration crushed ISIS.
It is stunning that our immigration service once refused entry to one of the healthiest men on the planet, professional tennis player Novak Djokovic, over his lack of COVID vaccination yet Immigration can not figure out what to do when an immigrant declares their intent to murder Americans. If only Abuayyash had been unvaccinated!
Of course, the Abuayyash story only reflects Immigration’s ability to formally introduce terrorists into the country, their informal efforts are almost as bad.
“Since the first of October, Border Patrol agents have apprehended individuals from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya.[sic] Malaysia, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Yemen,” Senator Steve Daines of Montana said of just the first ten days of October 2023. This year we have again shattered the record for arrests of those illegally crossing the southern border at 151 arrests, many of which were in the Texas portion of the southern border. These figures give a sense of the enormity of the problem our inept immigration policies pose for the potential for terror in Texas.
The result of incompetent immigrant selection and border enforcement has also resulted in the sights we have recently seen in Austin. On Sunday morning, thousands of protestors took to the streets in Austin to support Palestine in its latest war of terror with Israel.
One can not help but recall the words of Christina Weick when she crashed the Texas Muslim Capitol Day in 2015 “Islam will not dominate the United States! And by the Grace of God, it will not dominate Texas!” Let us pray she is right.
