The Irish struck back after a mass stabbing in the heart of Dublin, yesterday. A man, a woman, and three children were wounded, with the woman and at least one child’s lives currently reported to be in the balance at hospitals in Dublin, multiple media outlets are reporting.
Videos of the disturbances have circulated widely on social media.
Authorities have not released the name of the assailant which, more often than not, means it will not be something like Shamus O’Toole or Eoin McLeary.
However, Dublin’s Police Commissioner came out to attack protestors as “far-right hooligans”. Reuters circulated the police chief’s quotes and then quizzically stated “Such rioting is almost unprecedented in Dublin. There are no far right parties or politicians elected to parliament..”
Reuters failed to inquire how the protester’s motives could be publicly identified before the stabber, who is in police custody. They dually failed to consider that if there is no “far-right” political presence in Ireland, then logically it was not the “far-right” protesting.
Notably, the Police Commissioner contradicted earlier statements by his junior officers, indicating that terror had not been ruled out as a cause.
Nonetheless, Irishmen seemed to know who was responsible for the attack. The men of Dublin took to the streets and broke through a police barricade, which (for some reason) was outside a local migrant shelter, threw some barricades, and lit fire to a bus and car. No injuries to humans have been reported at the time of this writing.
Connor McGregor, Ireland’s famous MMA fighter and personality took to Twitter, stating “Ireland, we are at war.”
McGregor also tweeted, “You reap what you sow.”
Multiple unconfirmed reports online have stated that the stabber was an Algerian Muslim male.
The Irish Times has reported looting near the protests, however, social media user video appears to reveal that the looting was committed by migrants, not Irishmen. The video (embedded below) shows Irishmen attempting to halt the looting.
“Three Irish kids stabbed today, and you already robbing the place”, one Irishmen can be heard shouting at an alleged looter.
While many details of these ongoing events are not yet known, is it not peculiar that both the media and the police were quicker to attack their own citizenry than they were to identify an assailant who stabbed multiple children?
